This past week Amber and I have been designing a mold and constructing our molds (we have two). Since we are going with the waterfall/planter idea, we wanted to make two molds to help represent the randomness of water falling down a rock-face. Our molds were cut and sanded using the wood shop and are assembled with nails, screws, wood glue and hinges where convenient.

Our goal was to have both molds done by the end of this week (Friday) and to have our blocks cast in concrete. Today (Friday), we will hopefully get a chance to cast a tester concrete block in both molds and see how they turn out tomorrow before mass producing enough to make our wall unit.

We are thinking about either having our low-wall unit as a size for the compost bin at the Urban Farm, or to put in the back of Amber's house in her garden space. We were also thinking this would be a great design for the back of a bench and would make something fun to look-at and use. Below are photos of this weeks work-in progress.

Paper model making for conceptual understanding.

Drawings of model framework and an option for how we may assemble the wall unit.

AutoCad file for other wall assembly options and what paths the water will take to cascade.

Wood shop work!

Band saw skills.

Hinging our edges.

Notes on scraps.

One mold frame completed, second mold frame basically done but we forgot to photograph.
